A Naí Naoimh'

Adaptation in English

Holy Infant

O welcome, holy infant,
Though so poor your royal bed
It is glorious, this stable bare,
For love surrounds your precious head.
Tiny infant who is great
New born baby who is old
So small there within the manger,
You whom heav’n cannot hold.

O welcome once more, Jesus
Now your life here has begun;
O countenance more beauteous,
More radiant than the sun.
All my heart to you is given,
And my watch will I keep;
Receive now this kiss of welcome,
As we sing you to sleep.
