Yagi-bushi (english) In Joshu Sai country, Kunisada Village Notorious gambler Chuji was born in the family of wealthy headman of the village. Parents grew him with care. The age of 25 was an unlucky year, so that he behaved carefully for everything. He happened to confront at the gamble house with a notorious vagrant named Isabu Shimamura. He endured three or four times. But his follower, Bunzo could not stand it and insisted that it can longer be ignored, as the matter relates to their major staff of life which they carry their deadly swords for Chuji put his head on a side, and ordered his strong men to prepare for the fight. Time was July 2nd in the year of horse. They wore chain suits underneath, straw sandals and gaiters, and light cloth with dandy headband. Hid themselves in a border town and waited. Ignorantly there came Isabu Shimamura. (A Bon dance song sung in Yagi region.) |
