Super flumina Babylonis illic sedimus et flevimus,
Dum recordaremur tui Sion : in salicibus in medio ejus suspendimus organa nostra,
Quia illic interrogaverunt nos Qui captivos duxerunt nos Verba cantionum,
Et qui abduxerunt nos Hymnum, Cantate nobis De canticis Sion.

Si oblitus fuero tui Jerusalem, oblivioni detur dextera mea Adhereat lingua mea faucibus meis

1 Aupres des fleuves de Babylone, nous avons illec esté assis, et nous avons ploré, en ayant souvenance de toy Sion.

2 Aux saulx au milieu d'elle, nous avons pendu nos instrumens de musique.

3 Car illec nous ont interrogué ceux qui nous ont mené prisonniers, les paroles des chansons. Et ceux qui nous ont emmené (disoyent),
Chantez nous un hymne des Cantiques de Sion.

4 Comment chanterons nous le cantique du Seigneur en la terre estrange ?

5 Si je te mets en oubly Jerusalem, que ma dextre soit donnee en oubly.

6 Ma langue soit attachee à mon palais, si je n'ay memoire de toy. Si je ne propose Jerusalem au commencement de ma liesse.

1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4 How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

6 If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
