Jake has gone to wear the horn,
It was the crest when you were born.
Your father's father wore it then,
Your father wore it too.
Refrain:
Hal-an-toe,
Jolly lum-a-loe.
We were up,
Long before the day-o
To welcome in the summer.
To welcome in the May-o.
For summer is a-comin' in
And winter's gone away-o.
2. Robin Hood and Little John
Have both come to the Faire-o.
And we will to the merry greenwood
To hunt the buck and hare-o.
Refrain:

3. What happened to the Spaniards
That made so great a boast-o?
O, they shall eat the feathered goose,
And we shall eat the roast-o.
Refrain:

4. God bless me Mary Moses
And all be power and might-o.
God send good peace to En-ge-land;
Send peace by day and night-o.
Refrain:

The first verse refers to pagan practices. The "feathered goose" in the third verse
refers to the goose quill flights on the arrows shot at the Spaniards by the English bowmen.
