once proclaimed the mysteries of our salvation.
The European Sibyl
From the Virgin's body
The pure, eternal word shall come.
He who shall cross valleys and high mountains,
Sent from the starry Heaven,
Is born on earth a pauper,
With silent power he becomes the king,
This I profess:
He shall spring from a seed both human and divine.
The Tiburtinian Sibyl
The true God himself gave me the speaking gifts
So that through song, I could tell of the holy Virgin.
She who in Nazareth will give birth to Him
Whom Bethlehem's fields will see as God in flesh.
O, fortunate Mother, worthy of Heaven,
Who shalt nurse this great Son at her sacred bosom.
