1. O children of mankind,
be serious and create order in your hearts;
soon, the salvation of the sinner
will come to all,
the wonderfully strong hero,
whom God in his mercy promised
would bring light and life
to all the world.

2. Prepare the way
for the great guest with care,
prepare his staircase properly,
abandon everything he hates;
make all ways right, raise up the valley,
bring down everything which is high,
whatever is crooked,
make simple and straight.

3. God loves most the heart
which loves humility ;
a heart which is proud and haughty
will perish in fear;
a heart which is right
and follows God's lead,
can prepare itself properly,
to it comes Jesus Christ.
