Gyöngyösi, Levente (H) (1975-)





Levente Gyöngyösi was born in Kolozsvár (Cluj) in 1975.

After completing his studies at the Composition Department of the Béla Bartók Music Conservatory, where he was a student of István Fekete Gyõr, he enrolled in the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and continued studiyng composition under György Orbán.

His works have been awarded at several composing competitions.
He received the Zoltán Kodály Fellowship from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and Frenec Erkel Award in 2005.
Among his most outstanding pieces are The Stork Caliph (opera) and Cantici Fratris Sole (oratory in 15 movements for 4 soloists, choir, organ and string orchestra, based on texts by St. Francis of Assisi).
