Septimus Winner, 1861

Come, comrades, join the Reveille,
'Tis morn again o'er earth and sea.
The fife and drum now call for thee,
To join the Reveille.
With earnest hearts let all prepare,
To meet the foe we boldly dare,
Let every man without a fear,
Make ready for the war.

2. Prepare for the battle, prepare for the fray
The foe is before us, come hasten away:
On, on to the battle, the battle to-day;
On, on to the battle away.
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.
For duty is the soldier's law.
Let ev'ry man prepare for war,
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.

3. Come forth my boys with heart and soul,
For hear ye not the drum's loud roll?
The morning call--it beats for thee
To join the Reveille.
Let ev'ry man resolve this hour,
With earnest will and ev'ry pow'r,
To meet the foe where'er he be,
And on to victory.

4. Prepare for the battle, prepare for the fray;
The foe is before us, come hasten away:
On, on to the battle, the battle to-day;
On, on to the battle away.
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah,
For duty is the soldier's law.
Let ev'ry man prepare for war.
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.
