Dear friends,

We know that you appreciate the free service that Musica offers to the
international choral community giving access to data about more than 80,000
scores, 20,000 composers and more than 1,400 publishers. We also know that
you are thousands connecting to our site every day, and you can imagine the
enormous amount of work that is involved in this project...
IFCM, the International Federation for Choral Music, is one of Musica's
founding members and considers Musica a major project. Because of this
special relation, IFCM facilitates Musica's participation to Symposia and
international festivals, and talks constantly about Musica in its
International Choral Bulletin (ICB).
Here is a presentation of IFCM and its main and ongoing projects by one of
his responsibles.
I encourage all of you to read it and support indirectly Musica by becoming
an IFCM member.
By doing so, you will also be eligible to benefit from all the other
services that IFCM offers to its members and you will support developing
choral singing worldwide.

Dear friend,

IFCM, the International Federation for Choral Music, was created 19 years
ago to strengthen cooperation between national and international
organizations and individuals in all aspects of choral music. Through its
World and Regional Symposia, conducting Master Classes, World Youth Choir,
Choral Music Database (Musica), ChoralNet website, World Choral Census,
International Choral Bulletin, World Day of Choral Singing and many other
projects, IFCM fulfils day by day its purpose.

Musica, the international choral database online, is a major project of IFCM.

Today IFCM encourages the formation of choral organizations in countries and
regions where none exists; fosters and promotes international exchange
programs for choirs, conductors, composers and students of choral music;
promotes, coordinates and encourages choral festivals, seminars,
competitions and meetings organized by its members; facilitates the
dissemination of choral repertoire, research, recordings; encourages the
inclusion of choral music in general education and promotes the exchange of
information on pedagogy and training.

Because of this global effort, IFCM is the voice of choral Music within the
International Music Council of the UNESCO. Because of this global effort
IFCM is your voice in the World of Choral Music.

All the members of IFCM are entitled to all privileges of the Federation:
Members take part to all events that are organized or sponsored by IFCM,
receive copies of Federation publications, receive and are listed in the
World Choral Census, which will put you in touch with over 700 choral
organizations in the world, receive quarterly the International Choral
Bulletin, are eligible for discounted registration fees for IFCM activities,
receive help with international contacts and today are eligible for IFCM’s
new Web services (free web hosting and email accounts).

We are proud of the many achievements during IFCM's more than 19 years of
existence. IFCM produces significant, ongoing projects to which members will
take part, like:
- World Symposium on Choral Music (Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. 7-14
August 2002),
- World Symposium on Choral Music (Kyoto, Japan, 27 July to 3 August 2005),
- Regional Symposium on Choral Music (Singapore, 13-18 August 2001),

- World Choral Census (published annually and free to members),

into account the life expectancy, the under-five mortality rate, the
adult literacy rate, the percentage of children and teenagers
attending school, the people participation and combine them with the
GDP per capita.
